Tip #5: Maintaining Stucco Color 🖌️
Stucco can add a beautiful, textured look to your home, and maintaining its color is essential to preserving its aesthetic appeal. Here’s how you can keep your stucco looking fresh and vibrant:
1. 🥽Protect from UV
- Regular Maintenance: Regular cleaning, as we discussed in our first tip, helps to remove pollutants and dirt that can cause discoloration.
2. 🎨Repaint When Necessary:
- Choose High-Quality Paint: If your stucco is painted, use high-quality exterior paint (elastomeric is our fav) designed for stucco. These paints are more resistant to fading and weathering.
- Regular Repainting: Depending on your climate and the quality of your previous paint job, stucco typically needs to be repainted every 5-6 years to maintain its color and protection.
3. 🚿Address Moisture Issues:
- Prevent Water s drainage system is functioning properly. Moisture can lead to staining and discoloration.
- Fix Cracks Promptly: As we mentioned in previous tips, addressing cracks and gaps quickly prevents water from seeping in and causing color changes.
